Good morning, Bedford Park community. A few good updates for you this week. As usual, please respond with any questions, feedback, or interest in volunteering.
BPRO Board Update

John Miles has decided to step down as President of the BPRO board, but will continue to serve as a board member. Naomi Faulkner has taken on the role of President. Thank you to John for his dedication during his time as President, and to Naomi for taking on this new role. Also, Daniel Kligerman has taken on the role of Vice President, while also continuing in his role as Secretary. The rest of the board remains unchanged.
BPRO is a volunteer-run organization, and we need your help. If you are interested in joining the board, please email us. Serving on the board is a great way to get involved with your community and help us continue our work. It’s also a great way to get to know more of your neighbours. The board meets virtually once per month, taking a break for the summer. We’re looking forward to hearing from you!

A reminder that the new Upper Avenue Business Improvement Association is hosting a fall festival on October 4th from 10am-2pm. It takes place on Avenue Rd. from Lawrence to Joicey, and there will be something for everyone. Come out and meet your neighbours, discover new local businesses, and hear from Deputy Mayor Mike Colle.

Bathurst & Lawrence Redevelopment

Developers have submitted plans to the city to redevelop the plaza at Bathurst and Lawrence. Notably, this is Toronto’s first urban shopping plaza, over 70 years old. The plan is for multiple residential towers, up to 40 storeys, with 2,700 units. The plan also includes a daycare and a new public park. The project is expected to happen in multiple stages, but the timing is not yet known.
