Melrose Avenue Traffic Calming

Speed bumps will be installed along Melrose Avenue, from Avenue Road to Elm.

The City of Toronto’s Transportation Services conducted a traffic study on Melrose Avenue, between Avenue Road and Elm, to evaluate the installation of speed bumps.  The traffic calming report went to North York Community Council for review and was adopted on January 15th. We understand that once the speed bumps are installed, the speed limit on this section of Melrose will be reduced from 40 to 30 km/hr.  Timing for installation is not known at this time.

While BPRO will not initiate requests for traffic calming, we would consider lending our name to an application submitted by members from within our boundaries.  There are many steps involved and you’ll want to read further before considering taking action.  Information can be obtained from the City of Toronto’s website at www.toronto.ca.
