Board Member Spotlight: Josephine Grayson

We are continuing our new series of spotlights on BPRO board members, so the BPRO community can get to know a bit about the board members. This edition is from our newest board member, Josephine Grayson.
I’m a brand new board member of the BPRO. My family has lived on Brookdale Avenue in the Bedford Park community since 1989. My husband and I have two sons who both attended schools in the area – John Fisher and John Wanless, followed by Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute.
I have an MSW and spent most of my career working in the field of human rights and employment equity in the provincial government and then for 10 years with a big bank. I’ve also volunteered with agencies in support of immigrants and persons with disabilities, organizations advocating for senior citizens, and with women’s organizations.
Now as a retiree, and a beaming grandmother, I have the time and attention to fully realize how much I enjoy and appreciate my neighbours and all that this community offers us. And I want to help ensure Bedford Park continues to be a great place to live.

Tree Maintenance Review
The City of Toronto has launched a public survey as part of the City’s Tree Maintenance Review. This review is being led by an independent, third party consultant and is looking at how the City maintains street and park trees, with the goal of identifying opportunities for improvement.
The survey is open to anyone who lives and/or works in Toronto, and we encourage residents and community groups with an interest in trees, neighbourhood livability, and the urban canopy to participate. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete.
The survey asks about:
- Your experiences with City tree maintenance
- What matters most to you in how City owned trees are maintained
- Potential new tree maintenance initiatives
