Hello and Happy New Year! The Board of Directors thought it would be a nice touch if each Director introduces themselves to members so you can put a face to the name and know a little bit about us. Being the President, it was decided I would go first.
I have lived in the Bedford Park community since 1988, starting on Melrose Avenue. My husband Michael and I had two girls who both attended John Wanless P.S. When we became empty nesters, we looked at houses all over the city but ended up down-sizing to another house all of one block away on St Germain which was a good thing as one of our cats kept returning to our old house.
In high school I developed an interest in urban affairs which resulted in my career as a planner working in various jurisdictions including the City of Toronto. I later had my own business providing recording secretaries to condominium boards to take minutes at monthly and annual general meetings across the GTA. I sold the business in 2018 to spend more time gardening, golfing, and travelling. However, my interest in improving the community we live in has never waned which explains why I think it is so important to be part of the Bedford Park Residents Organization.
Parkette Update
Thank you to everyone who responded to the previous newsletter with suggestions for improving the small parkette at the south-west corner of Jedburgh and Woburn Avenues.
The Board has agreed with the concept of beautifying the small green space and making it a more desirable place to sit while keeping the short-cut path intact.
We will be contacting the City to see how this can occur. If there is an opportunity for a small working group of residents to participate, we will let you know. Stay tuned!
