I would like to thank the BPRO members who submitted their ideas for improving the neighbourhood. Many of the issues raised were the same ones our Board has commented on and which we are striving to correct.
I recently met with representatives of the Yonge Village Business Improvement Area (BIA), and the two resident associations on the east side of Yonge Street: Bedford Wanless and Teddington Park Resident Associations. We all agree on the need for better maintenance and a more attractive streetscape and towards that end will walk both sides of the street, take photos, list deficiencies, and propose ideas to submit to both the City and BIA.
In terms of our neighbourhood, we identified the need to improve the parkette on west side of Jedburgh at Woburn. Councillor Mike Colle’s office is willing to help and has asked for ideas. To that end I took some photos of a park I am familiar with near Bloor and Spadina of a similar size, (see above).
I encourage BPRO members to also submit ideas and photos of parks in the city of a similar size so we can move ahead with a proposal for the City to consider.
Upper Avenue BIA Update
The Upper Avenue Business Improvement Area has now officially launched with an inaugural General Meeting held on November 17 to elect a 9 member Board of Directors and approve a budget.
This is a significant first step towards implementing a more attractive and functional retail strip. Representatives from all three resident associations bordering Avenue Road between Lawrence and Wilson Avenues (including BPRO) were present at the meeting and offered their support. Stay tuned!

We work with various levels of government, neighbouring resident associations, and developers to understand and have input into issues that affect the more than 3,700 homes our community.
Acting together, we believe we can have a significant impact on the things that matter most to residents and navigate change in a way that respects the unique and vibrant qualities that make our neighbourhood special.
